OOP didn't bother to remove the address stickers, a minor effort that would have protected them from this very situation, and if they didn't bother to do even that...

That said, going straight to the legal system in this situation is also an asshole move. Definitely a case of "we're probably not getting the whole story, but how would we even know?"

The people in your house already know where you live and whats your name

It's a privacy measure for recycling specifically that I thought was commonplace. Maybe not in Germany.
