Eh, it took me years to tell Claire Danes apart from Gwyneth Paltrow and I think there are a couple other actresses that I may also be thinking are Claire or Gwyneth. It isn't "they don't recognize different brown people" as much as there are many doppelgangers in the world.

You need to get checked for prosopagnosia.

Jaime Pressly and Margot Robbie but I don't think the people in the OP look alike.

In the '80s it was Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds for me.

What about Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastaine?

However for white celebrities, it seems to be the exception. For celebrities of colour, it's a common experience.

I can’t speak to the gamut of white celebrities but I could pick Bryce Dallas Howard’s butt out of any lineup

[-] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 1 points 22 hours ago

You shouldn't pick butts. You'll get a smelly finger.

At various periods of time, I've been unable to tell the difference between Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell.

[-] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I'd throw John Travolta into that list.

[-] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I'd much rather have Claire Danes goop scented candle

[-] RogueBanana@piefed.zip 3 points 1 day ago

I swear I can't see the differences other than the hair when I look at a kpop video. Idk if its a messed up beauty standards or just me but everyone seems to have the exact same head shape, pale skin and a perfectly smooth face.

[-] Diurnambule@jlai.lu 1 points 1 day ago

You need training. I was like this at first then got force fed kpop and you start to notice differences.

[-] RogueBanana@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, ig I just haven't seen enough faces to distinguish. But I am gonna skip on that training lol.

Women can be difficult recognize if they share one or two similar features. I blame it on the makeup the wear. Danes and Paltrow are skilled in using makeup and can use it to alter their looks a lot.

[-] JordanZ@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

I still can’t tell Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard apart. I constantly misremember who is in what movie.

[-] alternategait@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I certainly can't tell most of the Chrises apart.
