The Japanese kitchen is quite focused on meat and fish, it's definitely not the easiest country for vegetarians.

May you make your pasta your way stranger. Everyone deserves their own specialized sauce for their own noodles.

Catholics are truly masters of doing their own religion wrong.

Fish is not meat for people that eat meat and want to live "vegetarian" for a time because their invisible friend in the sky told them to.

To everyone that's actually vegetarian/vegan they are absolutely meat.

And beavers and swans are, of course, also fish

[-] groet@feddit.org 4 points 19 hours ago

Naturally. As are pigs that drowned.

And of course meat wrapped in dough is also not meat because god can't see it.

[-] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 3 points 18 hours ago

Wait. Is that last one historical? I'd never heard it, but it seems just as accurate as "I can't have a meal, but meals are eaten in the rectory and prepared in the kitchen. So if I take something from the pantry and eat it in my room, it's not a meal and bacon is OK"

The swabian dish Maultaschen are also called Herrgottsbescheißerle (Herrgott = Lord/God, bescheißen = to scam/fool someone) in dialect. Its cooked pork and vegetables wraped in pasta dough.

The legend behind the name is that they could be eaten during lent because the omnipotent and omniscient God couldn't see the meat inside.

God must be a total fucking loser

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago
