Or, war itself is a tool of oppression.

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 11 points 6 days ago

This mf thinks it was oppressive to end slavery in the US

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

This ml thinks slavery was ended in the US.

There are more slaves in the US now than there were in 1860. So tell me again, what is war good for?

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago

"The civil war was bad because it didn't end all slavery, we should have just let the Confederacy continue"

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 1 points 6 days ago

"War is good because it ended slavery once, even though it didn't actually end slavery at all."

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago

Nobody said war is always good, dumbass

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 week ago

This is just an expansion on "violence is inherently bad" which as an anarchist I hope isn't something you believe

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Violence is inherently harmful.

Some people and institutions do deserve to be harmed. Those people and institutions are almost never who actually gets harmed in war. War sucks.

[-] gary_host_laptop@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

do you know what's harmful? capitalism. i'd suffer every pain for the world to achieve socialism. yes, you might not believe it, having a comfortable life in the global north, but there are people willing to be harmed to achieve liberation.

So would you oppose a war of liberation, such as the Vietnamese fought against Japan, France and America?

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 1 week ago

No, not really.

But neither of the wars mentioned in this 'infographic' are wars of liberation.

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 13 points 6 days ago

So you lied when you said war is a tool of oppression and you oppose all war

[-] QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 week ago

But neither of the wars mentioned in this ‘infographic’ are wars of liberation.

"The Palestinian struggle against the Israeli settler colonialists is not a war of liberation actually"

You might possibly be the least intelligent person I've ever seen.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 17 points 6 days ago

Scratch and a bleeds, as usual

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago

War is defined by the instigator. Israel's attacks are not a war of liberation.

[-] QinShiHuangsShlong@lemmy.ml 13 points 6 days ago

War is defined by the instigator.

Maybe, if you're a simpleton who needs everything boiled down to a single slogan/view due to being incapable of perceiving and analysing the totality of the event.

The great patriotic war was a war of liberation despite the Nazis instigating.

The war of resistance against Japan was again a war of liberation despite the Japanese instigating.

The Korean war was again a war of liberation despite it being instigated by the US and it's client state.

And so on.

War is defined by the instigator

I don't understand what you mean by this. Defined in what way?
