That sounds entirely reasonable. Why the meme?

Edit: Does "targets you only" mean it has to have a target of self, or just that in this casting it is only targeting you? I'm thinking cast Dragon's Breath on yourself and share it with your steed, and now both of you get a breath weapon.

Targets self means you can only use it on yourself, in 3.5 it's things with range personal. Read magic, for example

3.5 druids share their self spells with their animal companions

Ed. In 5e the range of such spells are "self". Level 7 druid spell draconic transformation would make a pretty terrifying winged rhino

While mounted on it, you can make any spell you cast that targets only you also target the mount.

It doesn't say "targets self". It says "targets only you".

You are quoting the thing that gives you the ability. I was describing how to identify those. Please state your point. Do you mean "range: self" spells don't count because they don't use the exact same words?

My point is that since it's not using specific D&D terminology, it should just be taken to mean literally any spell targeting only you. Which Dragon's Breath is, so long as you cast it on yourself.

Because a flying Rhino is a pretty absurd rules interaction.

It's already a celestial, a fey, or a fiend rhino. Given that, having wings isn't surprising.

A flying rhino? Such a weird situation! We should name a junior high school after it.

You can just cast fly on a regular rhino. The weird rule interaction is for giving the rhino wings, but it's still pretty balanced for where you can do it.

Also, this has convinced me to add winged rhinos to my campaign world. Wingless rhinos are the weird thing now.

It also makes the Rhino a fairly competent celestial warrior.

I wonder if winged rhinos would kill each other more or less than land rhinos?

Either way, in absolute awe at the idea of your character walking along like an idiot and triggering the charge instinct of those units
