Tomer Capone did serve in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Like most Israeli citizens, he completed mandatory military service , which is required for Israeli nationals.
And he seems to have little to no remorse for his actions. Just following orders is not an excuse.

He had a fucking mental breakdown... One side mocked him: called him a pussy and a coward and he just wanted to quit. The other side criticizes him for doing his mandatory duty.

I've seen his interviews, he focuses on his PTSD, the "I saw terrible things" side, not the "I did terrible things" side.
And again, just following orders is not an excuse. It doesn't matter that it was mandatory. It wasn't an excuse for the nazis, it's not an excuse here.
And what evidence do you have for anything he actually did?
Do you realize how hypocritical it is to be against collective punishment and then you turn around and then you do the same fucking thing you condemn?

Funny how ynet took down the interview transcription. It's almost like he admits to crimes in it.

Yeah soldiers do things that if ordinary people did them they would be crimes.
I still don't know what the hell your point is.
Looking around the internet it seems he definitely didn't feel happy about it though. Plus leaving isn't always as easy as it seems and prison can look very life crushing.

Not being happy about it doesn't mean he did anything to at least lessen harm. He admits to engaging in "pranks" where they cut open all of the watermelons of someone who was on their way to sell them. That's just stealing. He stole someone's livelihood, which also happened to be food in a place actively being denied food.
I'm glad he didn't do it giddily, but that probably makes no difference to the person who was driving. I'm glad he sees that he was a pawn, but there is no apparent understanding of the real harm he caused. He seems more focused on how it affected him and not how he affected others. I don't see him talking about how bad the IDF is openly, and he's vague posting about how he's actually just misunderstood. If people watch the boys or not I don't really care, but this guy is an asshole.
