Words are just a way to get what they want. Truth has no intrinsic value to them. In fact, they enjoy telling obvious falsehoods and getting array with it. It’s a power play. A domination thing.

They are deeply flawed people.

Depends on who we're referring to. Their politicians aren't all stupid. They talk to their base that way because they believe their base is stupid.

The audience doesn't care they're being lied to. If you show proof it's a lie, they immediately jump to the next talking point which is usually also a lie.
