It doesn't have to be entirely new, the short form of my new name is only one vowel different from the short form of my old name. I like the idea that transition doesn't necessarily entail completely abandoning your former identity, some parts of it can be salvaged to build a new one, also this way my initials don't change so my old email still works lol

There's a word I English where adding a letter changes the gender of the word and from plural to singular
