Post TextAmazing that one arsehole bloke has managed to make every single normal person’s life measurably worse, all around the world.

The Great Men theory of history is wrong, but the Massive Cunts theory of history is holding up pretty well. #Trump

This is such a misrepresentation though, because if Trump was the only asshole and everyone else was cool, he would just be exiled somewhere or completely ignored and pitied as a sad powerless little weirdo. It wasn't one guy who made everyone's lives worse, it was millions of assholes, and hundreds of millions of accessory assholes who helped to create the kind of Advanced Assholes that help Trump, etc.

Trump is just an avatar of assholes, despite being totally selfish, his position of power entirely depends on the constant support of others, the support of institutions which support him, etc.

This is why its hard for me to be excited about his acolytes burning their maga hats, or even to be excited about Trump inevitably dying soon. It doesn't mean that people have woken up and become less shitty. It just means they're disillusioned with this avatar and now want a new one to even more accurately carry out their collective asshole will.

You might want to look at Rupert Murdoch for poisoning millions of minds. He is the OG massive cunt

Hell, Trump himself probably owes a lot of his political views to Fox. I'm not gonna call it news.

Absolutely true. However one could imagine a world where Trump never ran for President in 2016, or even better was never born at all. Even imagining that some other Republican won in 2016 its hard to imagine it could have gotten as bad as the current Trump reality. But I'm not too informed about the 2016 republican candidates. Would love to get filled in on this.

Yes for sure he was an abnormally effective avatar. I guess you could say that's the distinction between a great asshole or a great person vs regular ones!

I would also argue that a great asshole has the potential to turn his asshole supporters into even greater assholes with time.

As an example I would say whoever ran the QAnon conspiracy changed a lot of people. On the QAnon casualties subreddit there were lots of people writing how their family members who beforehand were just "normal" republicans suddenly turned into absolutely bat shit insane conspiracy theorists after falling down that rabbit hole. Without that external exposure they would never have ended up in that state.

Crazy religious cults are often intentionally designed like this. Scientology for example had the whole aliens thing hidden from new initiates. You had to be part of the cult for a certain amount of time before learning about those "inner parts" probably because if you started out day 1 with the whole aliens bit people would see the bullshit for what it was but exposed gradually they accept it.

I think a lot of that also applies to the maga movement. I think we can all agree that Trump was always bad. But I also think most can agree that its only gotten worse with time. As trump gets more and more insane his supporters, who refuse to admit they were wrong about him, have to constantly double down and accept and support whatever he is doing, constantly turning his supporters views worse with time.

Well a competent asshole would have been even worse

Its hard to imagine what life would be like if I had something different for breakfast. That doesn't mean my life would be measurable different.

I think it's possible that things wouldn't have gotten as bad as fast. But just as easily the people behind the asshole could have found someone just as able to enact their selfish desires. Potentially someone who is even better at it, considering how much flailing Trump has done since taking office either time.
