My FPV goggles have no internal battery, they need to be run off a 2s-8s LiPo or 5v from a USB port. This lets me use a reasonably safe power supply instead of strapping a raw lipo to my body.

This actually would be kind of neat as a backpack atrachment.

Would make more sense to put it where the mp3 player goes, and just route the charging cable out the headphones hole

Valid, but many backpacks don't have those dedicated headphone holes. I was thinking of something that could clip to the shoulder straps (or I guess this existing design could be adapted for MOLLE-style rigging as well with a simple measurement).
