So, when Democrat Presidents do this (as they do) they are just stealing Republican plays?

That's scary!

I'm not super sure what "it" refers to, but assuming "it" refers to newly bombing a foreign nation to enact regime change, and not just expanding on or continuing already existing bombing campaigns (which would expand the list to literally every dem president since Eisenhower):

Obama: Libya

Clinton: Yugoslavia

Kennedy: Cuba

Truman: Korea

But some of these are quite far in the past, which other users have suggested makes them invalid examples somehow. Idk. Not sure what the other poster was referring to, but I think this may have been it.

Look it up, Jesus you want me to list them all? (many)

No.

He's just going to list cold war bullshit like I give a fuck what a Democrat did 60 years ago.

Let's talk about today

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

So you don't read and don't know anything? I understand

[-] sukhmel@programming.dev 22 points 1 week ago

And still no links for us to educate ourselves? I don't understand

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

That's okay, some day you will figure out how to look up things, IT'S NEAT

I like that you don't know this, it amuses me

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 24 points 1 week ago

I mean, you could do the bare minimum and cite examples to back up your claim. Why is that a problem?

[-] k0e3@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

It's always the same with these types, eh?

"OMG JUST LOOK IT UP!"

I mean, I'm willing to change my mind if they can provide a reputable source, but they never want to.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 8 points 1 week ago

Alternatively, "Ah, you caught me chatting shit, well done you."

[-] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

He knows it's true because he feels it in his guts. His guts are just full of shit.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

What's the point? I'll provide a list and then you'll be like "congress didn't declare war, that's not a war!" etc. I know anyone who claims to not know this is either staggeringly misinformed, in which case I would have to hold their hand through various terms and explain in great detail, OR is just taking a piss. Either way, me providing links won't help

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 15 points 1 week ago

I’ll provide a list and then you’ll be like “congress didn’t declare war, that’s not a war!”

Isn't that the point though? All you're doing is making an assertion without evidence thereby dodging any hope of a meaningful discussion.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

There is no meaningful discussion to be had when such absurd claims are made. It's all fun and games now.

[-] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 10 points 1 week ago

There is no meaningful discussion to be had

Yeah, that's the vibe I'm getting as well. See ya.

Unpopular Democratic Presidents initiating wars? I guess you could argue Kennedy and Obama were unpopular at bit of a stretch.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I didn't make any such claim regarding popularity, first we'd have to agree on what qualifies as "unpopular".

Re wars, again, first let's establish do you mean "declared by congress war" like the official USA propaganda line, or do you believe military strikes are also war (or even acts of war)? What about assassination?

With "acts of war" Democratic presidents routinely commit acts of war along with Republicans, how far can we go back?

if "declared war" is your line, then we haven't been in a "real war" since Korea, so we've been "war free" since 1950s. I think that's silly personally.

[-] Candice_the_elephant@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The whole thread is about unpopular presidents starting wars, you want to change the frame of the discussion you need to specify that.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

And I wasn't responding to OP, OP doesn't dictate all discussion that follows. I was responding to another claim within the thread, one regarding "Republicans" without the "unpopular" tag. Thank you

Bless you, unexpected!
