They're really hoping to recreate the addictive properties of Social Media that led to it's titanic growth and domination. That's why they want to get it in front of as many people as possible. The problem is that people just don't get hooked on it the same way, and without the kind of massive buy-in that sees the kind of ENORMOUS ROI these foundational model-makers need, it's all going to crash at some point.
Tbh, I don't think they intend to follow through with promises of a social media platform, jobs platform, OS, web browser, or hardware development in a meaningful timeframe. It's all a façade.

tbf chatbots do unintentionally recreate some of the things that gets people hooked to gambling but it's not enough apparently
