I think the whole thing started in 98 with Wakefield and his claim that MMR vaccine caused autism.

If I remember correctly he wasn’t even an antivaxer rather he wanted to sell his schedule.

Def began there, but early social media like Livejournal and its crunchy moms is what caused it to thrive. And since then weaponized disinformation from Russia has kept it briskly turning.

Antivaxxers have existed for as long as vaccines have existed, but he and Jenny McCarthy sure popularised the movement.

McCarthy recanted, but Robert DeNiro is still antivaxing because he won't admit having kids over 40 is a huge risk to autism, and he's still having children at 80.
