The best option for a defensive firearms is a 5.56x45mm AR-15, 12gauge Remington 870 shotgun, and a reputable 9x19mm handgun.
Defensive firearms should have a WML, long guns a sling, and handguns require a Kydex or solid plastic holster that fully covers the trigger.
A red dot or etched optic is ideal, but backup irons are important as well! Be sure to check out r/TheArmedGayAgenda

I love those Henry Lever actions, they are very well made and snazzy AF. They're good for deer hunting out to 100 yards without a scope, a bit further if you're willing to add optics. But those pistol calibres don't have the best ballistics for longer range hunting, kind of depends on the landscape around you. Open plains maybe not optimal, dense forests heck yes (leaver actions tend to be shorter than other rifles, so they're very good for close confines like if you're surrounded by trees)
The difference between them and a shotgun is pretty significant. You don't see many lever action shotguns, 12 gauge is really versatile, As you can get target shot, birdshot, buckshot or slugs depending on what you're trying to do
My buddy has a Henry lever in 45–70 and it is insanely fun to shoot. Anytime we use it at the range everyone comes over to try it, sounds like a freaking cannon going off and generates squeals of laughter from everyone that tries it
