My guess is that the electricity prices were so pricy that the actually using the EV to store energy from the solar cells actually made sense economically. In a normal functioning economy I highly doubt anyone sane would do it. But, it’s possible to do it, so it seems using recycled EV batteries is a good idea for cheap grid storage. As far as I know recycling a battery is fairly easy and cheap, only issue is current lithium prices makes it not worthy.
