nah tone policing is when you tell the gays to be less flamboyant so straight people will like them, or whine about how ridiculous you think vegans are and imply they should be less silly if they want to be taken seriously.
what's going on here is it was politely suggested to you that nobody wants to engage because the thing you said sounds less like a genuine question asked in good faith and more like you have a shitty attitude that you want reaffirmed.
