Why would she die? All she has to do is say Trump is innocent and she will get a pardon. Instead of 20 years prison or getting killed, she can have a happy life in freedom by just lying about Trump's involvement.
I know Trump is tremendously stupid, but even he must realize that her dying after signing off on a list of names and/or testifying looks really bad. Even (some of) his base is so riled up right now that they may not accept the usually “Obama did it”.
Hey, so far he managed to get away with everything, he has no boundaries, no moral compass and a fan base who see him as a god. He already dropped he was thinking of giving her a pardon, probably to motivate her to keep her mouth shut. He has surrounded himself with loads of yes-men, he's actively fighting his opposition without caring about the law, he even went against court orders. The guy is above the law and can do whatever the fuck he wants, and he knows that.
You make a good point. Even if this were the line that his base can’t cross, a decade of unconditional adulation on top of his obvious mental decline means he’s going to do whatever the hell he wants, and what he wants is completely unpredictable.
