I think it ironic that the South europeans have started coming here for "coolcation" only to find it almost as hot as down there.
Yeah, I get the reasoning, but it's not all about latitude. The Gulf Stream and Polar Front Jet Stream have huge impacts on local climates. Britain would probably have a lot more beaches with cool temperatures if they're looking for those in an easily accessible country from Europe.
I can only remember one summer with more than a day or two of 30+ degrees c. They are usually right to come here for more comfortable temperatures. We usually want to leave the other way when we have rainy 12 degrees summers.

Not all summers are rainy though, but it kind of feels like it. A normal good summer day is mid twenties. I'm from just about where the post is about. Futher south is more consistently nice.
Honestly, I like rain. I lived for a long time in a place that was almost always sunny, with summer temps getting into the high 30s.
