Democracy Dies in Redistricting
Democracy never happened in the USA. It’s just a facade.
Are you suggesting that people shouldn't vote?
You mean like you just did? Haha no.
Let's be a bit more constructive than this. If you'd like to point out flaws -- and there are many -- in the U.S. voting system, by all means, go nuts.
Beeing personally dismissive is another story. Don't do this on Beehaw. I enjoy snide one-liners as much as the next guy, but, you know, keep it civil?
None of my words were uncivil.
You were directly mocking another user. Regardless of how you view that or whether you agree, we don't do that here. I'd strongly advise you to take the lesson and not triple down.
Whether I'm in any position of power is irrelevant in a small Lemmy instance. What I'm saying is your behaviour is consistently misaligned with our ethos. As I said, just learn from this, and all is well.
Our only rule is to Bee Nice. Once you get to know people here, you can of course be a sarcastic prick, but it's the same rules as real life ... you can't just talk to a stranger as though they were your best mate.
This really isn't a high bar.
You're really not painting a good picture here. I've upped my suggestion in the mod channel from 72 hours to a week, vacationwise.
I don't like to pull rank, but if this is how you talk to a mod, it's unlikely you're doing any better elsewhere. Not a huge deal in public communities, but there's the black box of DMs.
I think I was pretty gentle on escalation. You were not.
I'm not a mod and you're really being unfriendly to multiple users right here, right now. Be nicer, even (especially?) when you disagree.
I’d rather someone be rude to me than passive-aggressive. That’s way more uncivil.
If that's your personal preference, that's fine. Just recognize that not everyone is OK with people being rude (or unfriendly, etc) to them.
Beehaw is structured around that understanding (among others).
“Beeeee passive aggressive” is the Bewhaw motto 🤡
Beehaw is nice on that they don't tolerate faux-civility in any form. If you see a spate of of passive aggression, report it.
It can be a bit easier to spot active aggression in rudeness, etc, but that doesn't imply passive aggression is somehow "nice".
I disagree, and have recently been the victim of faux civility, gang abuse, mod abuse, bans for not accepting abuse, gaslighting, and overall hypocrisy.
And we all know you can’t report mods or favored users. You just take the abuse and have multiple accounts. But that’s Lemmy in a nutshell 🤷♂️
I'm sorry that happened. That is really unfortunate. If you share links I am willing to help report such behaviors on beehaw.
It won’t matter. They’re a very prominent user and mod. We all know Lemmy is just a bunch of back scratching, nepotism, and power tripping bastards.
What?
Okay, so you're saying that voting is how we change things. Which means that the government is directed by voting. I think there's a term for that...
