Siri’s spoken responses like “OKAY” after turning off lights are often unnecessary and disruptive—especially at night. I know the lights have turned off; I can see it. But Siri insists on announcing it anyway, even when it’s late and the room is dark. And she DOESN’T do this in the the day!

There is currently no way to suppress this behavior on HomePod. “Sound When Using Siri” only disables the activation chime—not the spoken confirmation itself. I’ve tried lowering Siri’s volume manually, but that affects everything else too.

Please consider adding a setting to:

  • Disable verbal confirmations for HomeKit commands
  • Or at least suppress them automatically during late hours (e.g., based on Night Shift, Sleep Focus, or time of day)

Siri being silent in the day with the same command is crazy, what possible use case is there for only announcing at night?! Do you know if there is a time cutoff, or is it an after dark thing?

For solidarity I have a similar issue with whisper mode on Alexa, she whispers back unless there is an error, which happens a lot, so she shouts back at me a couple of times a week, “UPSTAIRS LIGHTS IS NOT RESPONDING, PLEASE CHECK IT’S NETWORK CONNECTIVITY AND POWER SUPPLY”

not only is it only at night, but the fact that she says that shit in a blatantly loud and seemingly knowingly, obnoxious tone of voice, tells me it’s some kind of fuck you from somebody at Apple. Why anyone would want to do that to their customers, I can’t fathom, but I can’t see any other reason for it.
