The protest movement in the United States is growing, but so is the global authoritarian playbook it’s up against.

What's the trap? I read that thing and I still have no idea. We embarrassed tf out of trump on his birthday. He had to tease that he's starting a war with Iran to make himself feel better about it.

This is a job he has that the republicans can fire him from at any point. Protesting is letting the republicans, who are never safe even if trump is, know that their jobs are also on the line.

you understand that war with Iran and the escalation of ICE raids in response to No Kings protests is significantly worse and in no way impeded by people marching with signs right?

embarrassing Trump is kayfabe to let the Volk blow off steam

they're doing a fascist imperial war expansion whether people "peacefully protest" or not, so it is time for better tactics or removing oneself from the conflict so as not to be useful to fascists

Almost like non-violent protest movements are a marathon, not a sprint.

yes this is why they are ineffective against a regime that started a war yesterday and readied their deathcamps a month ago

you can't instantly build a peaceful resistance movement after abandoning the one in 2020 and increasing funding for the violent police

USA's shot at doing peaceful resistance is over, that's not the shape of the problem anymore

Feel free to sit this out while real Americans save your ass.

They're typically not Americans. Yesterday, one said he was Scottish and last week they wouldn't fess up.

After taking a second look at his comments and some of the weird phrases he used in his DMs to me, that guy is 100% not an American

Yeah, I keep running into those guys too.

Is this based on a careful study of violent and non-violent protest movements under regiemes in many countries? Or did you pull it out of your ass?
