Meanwhile I as a German look at the French with envy everytime they burn down their capital the moment their goverment does something that slightly inconveniences them.

I had a discussion with my friend regarding socialism and the argument they had against socialism is everyone don't need to work hard and I was like, isn't that good tho?

We still need labor to have a functional society, so you need some level of guardrails to ensure enough capable people are working. Socialism doesn't have a great answer for how to do that.
