The Trump adviser is trying to redefine the Constitution in order to carry out his extreme immigration agenda.

The Trump administration continues to subvert the constitutional right to due process to justify its illegal, extrajudicial deportations.

“The right of ‘due process’ is to protect citizens from their government, not to protect foreign trespassers from removal,” wrote deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller on Monday morning. “Due process guarantees the rights of a criminal defendant facing prosecution, not an illegal alien facing deportation.”

This is not how the law works. The clause has no specification for citizenship. Miller’s claim has been widely rebuked.

Fascists redefining everything we hold dear until it isn’t recognizable any more.

It only works if we comply.

It's not like it's new either.

I mean the whole Nazi holocaust scheme was basically made legal by denying the jews were fully human. Laws that apply to humans don't apply to subhumans, right?

Similarly, Dubya claimed the Gitmo concentration camp wasn't a violation of the Geneva Convention because the detainees were "enemy combattants" and not prisoners of war.

It's fascism 101, and the US has been practicing it for decades now.

Even the word itself.

The original Fasci Siciliani were poor peasants protesting for basic human, labor, and civil rights. Mussolini co-opted the word in order to ride into power on a populist wave.

My Great Great Grandfather was one of the 18 killed in the Marineo massacre of Jan 3 1894. He didn't want to be a martyr for the cause. His widow managed to escape further persecution with their children to the tenements of lower Manhattan.

My Grandfather was named after him, and I was named after my grandfather.
