Sad it's coming to this, but the flag pin was at one point or another leading to this kind of stuff. I wish this would have just led to bigger and bigger pins to show that people are more patriotic than their opponent.

The rise of conspicuous nationalism - and I’m intentionally calling it nationalism, not patriotism - in the US had been a disgusting thing to witness over the last 2.5 decades, as a resident.
Well it was already pretty bad when the U.S. flag became a co-opted symbol for hate.
For a while they were wearing AR-15 pins.
