Beyoncé claimed to be “bringing back black country” when black country never went anywhere. It’s incredibly insulting to all of the other actual black country singers and artists. Also her album is just bad. Like literally terrible terrible music. It’s clearly just a cash grab.
If it’s anything like what current mainstream country music has been since roughly 9/11 then no wonder the bigots love it when it’s not a black woman. Nothing out of Nashville has really been good since the 90s
Agree. I think it's awesome that's she's potentially bringing in new listeners and talent to the mainstream part of the genre, but her album was imho not good. She has plenty of great songs, but unfortunately none of them were on that album. Really looking forward to the ripples we see in the genre from people inspired to break into it though. I think there is so much that a slightly more visible revival of folk/bluegrass could do.
