I love how certain media call it a Roman Salute in an attempt to defend him.

Like, do they think Hitler just made it up himself?

[-] jonne@infosec.pub 101 points 1 month ago

He stole it from the Italians under Mussolini, who basically took it from a painting. There's no evidence the Romans used this salute, so it's always been associated with fascism.

Unfortunately, evidence isn't something these folks are worried about.

Their feelings don’t care about facts so to say

[-] Irelephant@lemm.ee 18 points 1 month ago

Even if it was a roman salute, that was a symbol of fascism.

That's what I'm saying, it takes literally four seconds to look up where the "Roman" salute came from.

But these kids aren't big on the whole "reading" thing.

Same people that say the swastika is a symbol of peace.

Ok, how often do you see Hindus, Buddhists, Nepalese, Indians, Thai, Mongolians, Sri Lankans, Chinese, Japanese, Akans, Hopis, Navajo, and Tlingit peoples spray paint it on walls or get it tattooed on their bodies in AMERICA? This isn't any of those countries you listed. The next time I see someone with a swastika on their neck and a Nazi salute here in America am I supposed to assume it's a peace loving Buddhist with an interest in Roman history?

[-] Princeali311@lemm.ee 13 points 1 month ago

No, but if you see it from a person or that ethnicity and religious background, you shouldn't assume it's an ode to Hitler.

[-] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

You did not read a single thing I posted. I did not praise Nazism or Hitler. Your lights might be on, but no one is home.

[-] Internetexplorer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

No they know they will be sued. Because it's not a nazi salute.

I wish you guess out this much energy into criticising the genocide in Gaza.

I guess we know why that is.
