why so eepy? (lemmy.eco.br)
submitted 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) by P4ulin_Kbana@lemmy.eco.br to c/asktransgender

What I mean by that is that I see many posts by transfems about how they feel "eepy" and it feels to a point where they would hibernate if they could. Why so many memes about feeling sleepy are posted?

It’s only my speculation, but transitioning has been called a puberty 2, your body is going through a lot, and that takes energy. Only now we’re not teenagers in grade school, we have jobs, responsibilities, and less energy so it’s draining. Not to mention the way society treats us is pretty taxing too, so we must eep

I’m not trans or anything, but I have experienced something like puberty 2.0 all the same. Not at all fun.

Being on long-term hormonal birth control of the shot, implant, or IUD variety (the ones that halt menstrual cycles) starting from late teen years, and then coming off it some 15 years later (which I did because I got sterilized).. does something similar.

It was horrible, and probably not even to the same degree as trans women deal with. Pizza face, sore breasts, mood swings galore, lethargy, you name it. The mood swings and lethargy were so bad I went back on long term hormones and will stay on them at least until I hit menopause. Then we’ll see.
