If you love your wife and kids and you're committed to providing for them, then you have a really good gig to build on - find a friend group or a meet-up of people you can mingle with. It ain't gonna be world traveling, but few things are. Make your life better, more enjoyable. Hopefully with your wife and you enjoying things together. Do things you like doing.
It sounds like you've got "glory days" problems. You had an adventurous life, and now everything pales in comparison. You're like a gambler who hit big his first day in Vegas. Now you're chasing that high forever.
If you aren't committed to your family, then go live your life. Travel or bum around or whatever. You're free, and you only have one life. It will be painful for them, probably awful, but you can't help that. Give this one life everything you've got.
Love, commitment, and stability...or zest, freedom, and excitement.
