Legit I think the whole robotaxi show case he came out with was to distract from this news resurfacing in more than a few reports.

The robotaxi show case had been announced ages ago, so it seems unlikely. But we can still revel in schadenfreude, because it was a complete dud and Tesla's shares lost almost 10% of their value in two days.
