Yeah no guys this is a modern food nutrition thing. Paired with -I would say- a rather mild jab at how American education has a bit of a nonsensical ‘Stalin bad’ attitude towards educating its population about the history and impact of the USSR.

I'm a postal worker that used to bike 150 miles a pop and trained for a 50k and thought it was absolutely bonkers for me to be eating 4000 calories a day on the basis that the generic recommended value was 2000 so I guess I stand corrected

2000 calories is based on an hour of strenuous exercise a day, and it's a broad generalization even then.
