I went to a new restaurant last week and did the same thing. $15 minimum menu price. Now, depending on the place that's not outrageous, but this was a Vietnamese place that had things like pho. Nothing fancy. I just got up and left.
Normal pho price where I live is about $15-18. Banh mi is only like $7-9, at least.
I'll just say it's the most expensive place I've been to in literally the same area. There are tons of other Viet places around there with cheaper prices. It's not like it was WAY out there, but why would I pay 20-25% more when I can go one street over for the same food?
I obviously can't compare taste since I didn't get anything but they weren't exactly screaming fancy either. About the same as every other place in the area. They are just newer.
