It has been restored for the same event as the 3 Tatras that I've previously mentioned. Apparently, this was the original livery, with the exception that it had a bigger logo in the front, and also the logo was applied diagonally across each of the three sections (on the left side). Not to mention, the top display was a matrix dotted one, instead of the current orange LED display. Here's a comparison between the original and the attempted restoration, and here's a better picture of the original (courtesy of Metrou Ușor forum).

Tram number 2 at Jászai Mari tér, Budapest. Supposedly one of the most beautiful tram rides in the world. Parliament building is in the background.

People not living in Bucharest might not be familiar with this, but STB, the local public transit authority, is still operating Tatra T4R trams from the 1950s. They're being gradually phased out as we speak, as they're replacing them with newer, longer, more accessible and more energy efficient vehicles, with modern amenities such as onboard LCD displays, USB plugs or AC.

They salvaged 3 of them from scrap and restored them as much as they could (or wanted, tbh) with their original colors. If you're visiting the city this weekend, you may see them as part of the European Mobility Week events on some dedicated lines (see them&the full schedule here). They're on the route with both coupled (2 of them) and individual (single car) configurations. Really looking forward to seeing them and even having them exposed in a future public transit museum.

More information about this car: https://www.tatemonoen.jp/english/restore/intro/outdoor.php#o08

Made in 1962

Depots: Aoyama, Yanagishima, and then Arakawa, in Tokyo

Explain: This used to serve the route from Shibuya Station to Shinbashi, Hamacho-nakanohashi, Suda-cho (Kanda), and back again. Streetcars began to disappear from the streets of Tokyo from 1963, but still run on the Arakawa line.

Also, a 360-degree photographic tour around the tram

I ❤ Prague's ubiquitous trams. This one chugging uphill in Hradčany.

From:

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the light rail system envisioned will pencil out, due to the estimated high cost of USD$4 billion.

https://archive.ph/ivlOl

Which is really a shame because 1) It could have been useful for commuters, because the main freeway, Highway 1, is frequently jammed, 2) It would have been an electric trainset to reduce carbon emissions, and 3) Just look at the Coast Futura pictures, they're really pretty.

p.s. The green structure in the background is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Cruz_Beach_Boardwalk
