Today I'm listening to a bunch of Resistant Culture (formerly Resistant Militia) and doing small acts of resistance - mainly de-trashing my neighborhood and breaking down stuff for the recycle bins. I also changed my voter registration and deleted my amazon/audible account.

Small acts, but I hope to they help strengthen my local community.

Laced Records has announced that it will be releasing a new 6LP collection featuring music from across the Metal Gear Solid series. The collection, titled Metal Gear Solid: The Vinyl Collection, is available to pre-order now and will contain 53 tracks spanning from Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for the MSX all the way up until Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

The collection includes notable tracks like "The Best Is Yet To Come", "Can't Say Goodbye To Yesterday", "Snake Eater", "Here's To You", and more. The set will come in a rigid board slipcase, containing six inner sleeves, and will also feature archival illustrations from the famous Japanese artist Yoji Shinkawa as well as a set of 6 multicoloured discs.

The official track listing is available on Laced Records' website, featuring music from various games in the series. The collection is expected to ship in October 2024 at the earliest.

What are you spinning your records on this weekend?

I'm running a Thorens TD-150 with upgraded wires and caps + a new headshell from Audiosilente that has the Ortofon 2M Blue mounted. This goes into a NAD PP4.

Sound is great, but the equipment is pretty basic as far as a turntable goes. I'd like one with auto-stop and perhaps a linear tonearm. Something like the Mitsubishi LT-5V would be cool to try out.

I remember being annoyed with some albums disappearing from Spotify and other music services a few years ago.

This was also at the time I was exploring NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert on Youtube and discovered Idles.

It was just the sound I needed in my life and I had to have a physical copy. The rest is history.

What was your first?

Lets link to our discogs and tell a little bit about what we use it for. I use it as a distribution means for my band's tiny label. We release our friends and own music on various formats. The marketplace aspect of it is pretty good and I'm always able to find releases I'm interested in for good prices. I also do some minor editing/contribution particular for the smaller bands and releases I know about.

I am sure all of you are aware of Discogs and use it to document your record collections. I myself have a few hundred entries and have been using Discogs to procure some of that collection as well.

I've recently realized that the more time I spend on that site, the more money I spend.

I am not a completionist in any way, but having the collection listed in Discogs just makes it easy to put the missing records on my wishlist and buy it whenever I have some money over.

It's not a problem, but I don't think I would have spent that much otherwise...
