Because of the small size of the VR community and the amount of cross-system software titles we are going to consolidate VR discussion at !virtualreality@lemmy.world. Please post there in the future.

We reported last year that the project, originally revealed in 2022 as Pico's first and only major exclusive title, had found a new partner to take the lead and help them finish development. Pico laid off a significant portion of its workforce after stopping short of release in the United States for the Pico 4.

Now the Just Dance VR beat goes on Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro. The title is slated for release on Quest headsets on October 15 with 25 songs included ranging from originals to recent pop hits.

The Dock fits perfectly into the IKEA Kallax. Also the Bobo m3 also works with the Dock. Still hoping that the new Bobo battery is compatible with charging on the Meta Dock.

The whole "Spatial Computing" thing now being popularized by Apple makes me hope that maybe some Android devs start submitting their flat apps to the Quest. Not everything has to be immersive 3D experiences.

Just let me put my streaming movie/music app off to the side while I sit in my chair at a hotel please.

I've been using it to wirelessly transfer files from my phone and PC to the Quest, it's been great for that.

On PC and phone, I also use it to send clipboard contents, remote input, and sync all my notifications on all my devices. I've managed to get into the Android settings on the Quest 3 but I still can't figure out how to actually get these features to work (or if it's even possible). Has anyone had any luck?

I'm looking for some games for my son that lets him explore and play around at his own pace. Things similar to First Contact, which he loved. He has motor control problems, so games that requires precise movements are difficult for him. For example, he cannot make it though the first song on Beat Saber when it is set to easy and the directions are turned off.

If you know of any that just allow a player to just explore or manipulate the things around them, while also hopefully being entertaining for a 12 year old, please let me know. Thanks!

Developed by HandyGames, Townsmen VR combines strategic city-building with ‘god-sim’ elements reminiscent of flatscreen classic Black and White. It's not "exclusive" in the way Resident Evil 4 VR was on Quest 2 at launch, having previously reached Rift, Steam, PSVR 2 and Viveport. However, excluding MR tutorial First Encounters, this is the first main Quest Store game only on Quest 3.

Previously, Meta advised Quest 3 wouldn't have any exclusives until 2024 […], that evidently held true, even if it only took four days into 2024.

Quest 3's usage share grew more than any other headset by far, jumping from 5.2% in November to 7.74% in December. That took it past the original HTC Vive, and on its current trajectory it probably won't be long until it surpasses the Oculus Rift S to take the #3 spot.

Quest 2 still holds the top spot, as it has since just after it launched, but its share actually declined somewhat, despite it being priced at just $250 since mid-November. This could be reflecting Quest 2 owners upgrading to Quest 3, or just lower retention amongst Quest 2 owners compared to Quest 3.

UploadVR independently verified that the app held the position on December 25, and multiple screenshots posted to social media suggest it maintained the position until at least December 27. This also happened on Christmas Day 2021.

In mid-November Meta announced that for the rest of the year the 128GB Quest 2 model would be priced at $250 (down from $300) and the 256GB model at $300 (down from $350). But instead of the deal ending today, Meta announced these will now be the official new prices.

TL;DR: Meta plans to release a cheaper Quest headset next year, aiming for a $300 price point. They are considering selling it without controllers and improving hand tracking to make controllers optional for many experiences. The headset is expected to resemble Quest 3 in design but with cost-saving components. (via ChatGPT)

Honest question. Don’t get me wrong, I’m well aware how unlikable Meta is and there are plenty of valid criticisms.

But it feels like everything Quest related gets downvoted even in here and this is the Quest community. It’s certainly not big enough to show up on the hot page.

I’d love to have a proper Quest alternative, but at least on standalone it’s currently the best (if not only valid) option. I know, Pico, but I don’t think Bytedance is the savior here.

I don’t want to support people spamming the review section with referrals, but do like having 25% off.

Is there any place where people can submit their codes, where I can search for a game and get a random referral link so that it’s not the same person every time?

Whose planning on upgrading from the Q2 to a Q3?

It seems like a lot of incremental upgrades, but it's a LOT of incremental upgrades.

Cost is definitely a lot higher than I like, close to 2x what I paid for my Q2

Schell games has a proven track record, looking forward to this.

TL;DR: Outta Hand is a fantastic VR platforming experience with a 3-4 hour campaign, innovative mechanics, and a perfect balance of narrative and action. It offers creative obstacles, light combat, beautiful visuals, and a great soundtrack. Highly recommended for Quest players. (via ChatGPT)
