Which now I thinking about it... I guess this is why Gen Z / Gen Alpha are using "brain rot" slang, they want to create a world where they feel in control, where they are the masters of.

Just like I do. I sometimes just yell English phrases as my like to create a sense of seriousness... like know how parents call your full name? My mom use Taishanese (their home village language) to call my full name instead of Cantonese (the language of the city I was born in) when she's mad at me, and I feel like that make her feel so "in control". So for me, I reverse it in the other direction, I just use English like "leave me alone" lol, I don't care if my mom understood it. I feel so empowered by it lol.

I read that some siblings apparantly protect their younger siblings?

I feel so jealous.

I wanna cry.

I've been called: stubborn as a mule, argumentative, a picky eater, antisocial, unambitious, and act like an old man even though I'm in my 20s

Let's talk turkey. (lemmy.world)

And by that I mean let's argue about how to cook Thanksgiving food and what food is best. I'm a firm believer that canned green beans are better than fresh or frozen green beans in green bean casserole.

Have you been rocking an old classic? Discovering something new? Revisiting some nostalgic bands from the past?

If you've got links, post 'em up!

submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by sga@piefed.social to c/casualconversation@piefed.social

for context, I am coming from https://piefed.social/post/1500502 (fedimemes post saying people go to political stuff instead of casual stuff).

I for one had subscribed this comm pretty much when it was made (moving away from lemm.ee i think), but at the time this comm was not active, there were mostly regular posts by lady butterfly and blaze (for example - how has your week been), but they did not get much activity, and there were not 'regular' posts posts (not the periodic ones, for example, and i saw it just 5 mins ago, the post about drying your hair, these kind of posts were just not there). Hence I unsubbed. (for example, there were less than 5 posts a week back then)

Today I got directed here, and seeing it more active (i scrolled to end of first page, and week still not ended), it makes me happy.

edit: well maybe i spoke too soon. maybe my page had not loaded up correctly or what, but now when i scroll, i saw posts 2 months old. my point is still partially correct, number of posts made between 1 month ago and 2 months ago is still less than number of posts made in last 1 - 1.5 weeks, but it is not that high. number must go high

edit2: sorry, i forgot about BoozeOrWater. I did not realise they were making the how has your week been style posts. I am sorry. (i saw the 'It's Sunday, how are your pets doing?' post by blaze and guessed they are still making the periodic posts)

I'm going to say, "no". I like beans and rice as a side for tacos, but for some reason, rice in a burrito just feels wrong to me. Opinions?

Made a massive difference when I started pat drying my hair, it became more softer and smoother instead of roughly and vigorously rub drying my hair, making my hair dry... I feel like this should be common sense but apparently not to me since I found out about this just recently 😅

Like... you know how a flashback scene in movies/tv feel so emotional sometimes... its kinda like that...

I think I'm just obsessed with that "emotional flashback" feeling, I'm digging into my memories, and reading the "early life" sections of wikipedias, and memoirs.

Am I just being weird af?

Y'all got any weird obsessions you might wanna share?

So like, captain's log stardate so and so, they found an anomaly, a distress beacon from a planet, and upon examination it was a derelict spaceship with only one dead crew member fused to the pilots seat, and some eggs.

Long story short, they go on an away mission, and Tasha Yar(r) winds up in the sickbay under Dr. Crushers care, with a xenomorph attached to her windpipe.

Long story short, the episode ends with Picard silently whispering "kill me...." while being engulfed by xenoplasma, and that's the official end of Star Trek: TNG

What do you think?

I find myself in possession of some very heavy slabs that were clearly the top of an old billiards or pool table. There are 3 pieces in total, all of which look to be in great shape aside from the holes in the pocket locations. They are heavy as FUCK.

Throwing them away seems like a waste but there isn't anything immediately coming to mind to use for them besides maybe a table top or something which doesn't sound very exciting. Cutting them isn't out of the question but I don't have the tools for that on hand.

What sort of stuff would you do with them?
