Do I have to have good solutions for climate change and homelessness and drug addiction and wealth inequality and world hunger in order to comment on those, too?

No, but you should either have a more realistic stance than "if one single bad thing happens as a result of it then I don't think we should do it." or stop providing your opinion on the topic.

So how do you deal with opponents deliberately putting their military infrastructure next to civilian targets?

I feel like you either don't understand what I wrote or deliberately misunderstood it.

Feel free to ask if you need help understanding what I wrote.

Those are the only two options I guess, indiscriminately murder civilians and blow up hospitals or suicide.

Feel free to share your operational plan for how the Israelis should proceed, I'm sure it will be very realistic and grounded in military reality.

I’m saying people who commit war crimes should go to the place where the world has decided to try war criminals and then they should punish them like we have punished war criminals in the past.

So you're obviously also saying that Hamas should be hung from the neck until dead.

Attacking a hospital containing active enemy combatants is not a war crime. Garrisoning troops in a hospital is a war crime. Not making necessary precautions to move civilians away from the combat area is also a war crime.

Deliberately harming civilians is a war crime. Harming civilians by accident or as a byproduct of necessary military action is not a war crime.

Still, i can’t argue that most people consider this kind of revenge to be also a component of self defense.

Why did the bell ring immediately after Hamas started losing? You don't get to perform an offensive, have less success than expected and then simply call off the war.

However, speaking of genocide, Hamas (hell, all of Palestine) is not in a position to seriously threaten the Israeli people as a whole nor the Israeli Jews specifically.

The Arab states have been trying to do this literally since the creation of Israel. The only reason it hasn't occurred yet is because they lost all the wars they started.

So when Hamas guns down Israeli civilians that are not next to military targets it's justified and actually the fault of the jews, and when Israel strikes Hamas military targets that are deliberately placed next to their own civilians it's never justified and the jews hould hang?

Very cool.

There really is no way to bomb hospitals and then blame the hospital for being a human shield when it was your bomb that murdered those children.

What do you realistically expect armies to do when their opponents place all their military assets next to civilian targets? Just give up and kill themselves?

Just one final question.

You obviously don't support Japan taking back the Kuril Islands from a weakened Russia and aren't happy about it, but obviously you understand what caused it and why it had to happen, right?

[-] xzite@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

And China. And North Korea. And Russia. And Syria.

[-] xzite@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

If a referendum happened for this. Independence would absolutely not win.

And since they also don't want "unification" you are absolutely against China attempting to invade Taiwan, and any aggressive actions like shooting missiles into waters near Taiwan, or threatening invasion, right?

Don't underestimate the "stupidity" of authoritarian regimes.

Like we've seen with Russia the information that leaders base their decisions on do not necessarily reflect reality in any way. China could very well start WW3 by invading Taiwain based on the false pretenses that everyone would just capitulate and totally be on their side like Russian leadership thought would happen in Ukraine.

but at least one is internally consistent until then…

Having to do the mental gymnastics required to make China not commit genocide does not suggest internal consistency...
