Given the issues surrounding .ml domains, I'm moving over to blahaj zone. This is a move I had been thinking about for some time anyway, given lemmy.ml's primary focus being FOSS. Feel free to subscribe and contribute over at !idlehands@sopuli.xyz

I will most likely be re-posting what I've posted here, there as well since there is not much and I would prefer to keep everything as together as possible

Fantastic resource for papers in the fields of: physics, mathematics, computer science, quantitative biology, quantitative finance, statistics, electrical engineering and systems science, and economics - even for people not in these fields though obviously these articles can be quite technical.

Pffffft. Only 27? I’ve maxed my allowed tabs on my phone browser several timed over, let alone my computer browser.

Also. Firefox >>> Chrome.

That image makes them even more frightening looking...

Very cool though. It's astounding how it's simultaneously not that long ago that this was, how long it took for humans to have the collective knowledgebase for this to happen, and how exponentially far we've come since then.

I'm so stoked for this. Just got done listening through The Last Podcast on the Left's series on the Manhattan project too

Literally anytime I send my dad (retired IT) a script I've been working on and he sends it back with the equivalent to red pen corrections on a paper / telling me all the various avenues of exception handling I need to add

I did search and wasn't coming up with anything, so forgive me if this has been asked before

On the lemmy homepage on the right side, there's the subscribed communities tab - is there a limit to how many are shown there? Reddit had a maximum for subscribed subreddits, which was increased slightly if you had gold. I'm wondering if lemmy has a similar limitation (beyond 'yes there has to be some limit otherwise things break') and if so, where can you see a list of everything you're subscribed to? Does this vary from instance to instance, as in does the lemmy software allow for different instances to customise how many communities appear there?

For context I have lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, and vlemmy.net (maybe rip :( ?) accounts

Thanks for any help!

I’ve definitely used my phone in dreams before. People have also said that you can’t read properly in dreams and that’s one way to know you’re dreaming (I was interested in lucid dreaming for a bit), but words look just fine to me when I’m dreaming

Thank you for mentioning Libraries! As a librarian, I'm always getting shocked faces when I tell patrons what is accessible with their library card

I used to pirate a lot of stuff, when I couldn't afford it. Now I only pirate things that I a) already paid for (and want a more convenient way of using it or to ensure it can't be taken away) b) can't obtain any other way, or c) don't know if I will like it, so I use the pirated version as a demo of sorts

I'm very curious to see how (actual) websites / ways to access this data will change how Lemmy not only deals with this as a potential security issue, but how it will change the culture of Lemmy and they way people interact on here

Obviously I'm concerned with the ramifications as well, but I'm also very intrigued how things will go

Loving actually having conversations with people, instead of talking into the void where by the time you see a post it's already so old that commenting is useless

I love the concept of a federated network, it definitely feels way more punk than just being another data set for a corporation

I do wish a few of the more niche subreddits had similar communities here, but I'm trying to do my part by making that content

QR menus are the first thing that popped into my mind too. SO irritating.

There's two places (one restaurant and one brewery) near me that was only QR menus for a long time and recently they've switched back to physical ones and it's so much better
