Hi mcepl.

We thought at this time you may be interested in this special offer from our friends at Proctor and Gamble.

Where I live if you fall and injure yourself on an established hiking/climbing route, in season, you will be rescued for free (regular ambulance rides are free anyway).

If you climb or hike off track, out of season you might be charged for a helicopter ride or mountain rescue. As you can imagine it's not cheap.

We have our Aircon cleaned around March or April because when everyone turns them on and realises how badly they smell in July all the cleaning services are busy.

YMMV But another fun AirCon fact*.

A few years ago we switched from running the air con hard at 20°C or so when we got home, having it turn off automatically late at night, running it hard in the morning and turning it off when we went out...

To....

setting it at a supposedly "high" setting of 27°C and leaving it on 24/7 (July to September)

The running cost was the same and it was very comfortable coming home to an already cool dry environment. We never felt the need to lower the temperature either. It was lovely.

*"fact". I'm sure the condition of your home insulation, outside temperature and conditions, draftiness of windows and doors etc all play a role.

McDonalds is especially egregious recently. Time was you could get a set for ¥500 (about 5 dollars) Then suddenly all the menu items went up to ¥700 - ¥900. That starts to get very very close to the alternatives which are much better. The only competitive edge they had was price really.

Today I learned that Reader's Digest is still an ongoing entity.

I love these wonderfully petty reactions to the Reddit issues.

Are there any other good examples out there for me to enjoy (I have already seen r/pics.)

I bought a leather belt in Prague as a nice souvenir. Stil wearing it almost daily over 20 years later. I replaced the stitching but the leather is still rock solid.

I am enjoying being able to observe this story from the beginning, before the media started writing about it. It's been an interesting few weeks.

I'm here from reddit. I remade my small sub here, but I do intend to continue to support our reddit users too (i am reducing my reddit interaction by about 90 percent though overall). I'm trying to encourage our community to jump ship with me, but we'll have to see how that goes.

I love this kind of justified pettiness. I am pretty petty myself, and its something that I guess is a supposed bad quality, but it can be so much fun.

He gets away with a lot for being so damn wholesome.

If you are here from my post on Reddit today. Welcome! You figured out lemmy! If we get a few more people here we'll dress the sub (wait! is this called a sub here?) up a bit and add descriptions and such.

Why not post something (even an old image that you previously posted on Reddit is fine) and we'll try and get the ball rolling.
