Following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, 400 aid trucks began moving from Egypt toward Gaza through the Kerem Shalom and Auja crossings on Sunday morning — the first such large-scale entry since March. In the first hour, 90 trucks passed from the Egyptian side, carrying humanitarian supplies to be distributed across the Strip.

Coordination is also underway to open the Rafah crossing on Tuesday to allow the evacuation of wounded Palestinians, as well as Palestinians, foreigners, and dual nationals stranded in Egypt.

Under the humanitarian mechanism agreed upon in January 2025, 600 aid trucks are expected to enter daily. UN agencies and international organizations have already prepared to scale up relief operations, with Israel approving the entry of 170,000 tons of aid for the first 60 days of the ceasefire.

During an interview with Sky News on 10 October, senior Hamas official Dr. Basem Naim confirmed that Hamas would not completely disarm and that the movement would only hand over its weapons to a Palestinian state and integrate its fighters into a Palestinian national army.

"No one has the right to deny us the right to resist the occupation of armies," Naim said.

Palestinian Factions Confirm: Gaza Governance Future Is “Internal Palestinian Matter”, Reject Foreign Guardianship

Hamas and other Palestinian factions have reaffirmed that the future governance of Gaza is “an internal Palestinian matter,” rejecting any form of foreign guardianship as the ceasefire takes effect in the territory.

In a joint statement on Friday, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) joined Hamas in lauding the steadfastness of Palestinians, which they said foiled Israel’s plans for mass forced displacement in Gaza.

“We renew our rejection to any foreign guardianship, and we stress that the nature of the administration of the Gaza Strip and its institutions are an internal Palestinian matter to be determined by the national component of our people directly,” the statement said.

A resistance fighter in Gaza left a note of apology in a home he had entered during the residents’ displacement to the south. Beside the note, he placed 50 shekels, the price of a pair of shoes he had taken.

When the homeowner later returned and found the money and the message, he praised the fighter’s integrity, expressing pride that his home had, in some small way, served the resistance in their struggle against the Israeli occupation.
