I've noticed that the most current post here was 22 days ago. Is Mlem still being developed?

BTW, I'm one of the Beehaw admins. Several users have reached out to me because they love Mlem so much.

EDIT: I just noticed a few comments from one of the Mlem developers here.

@dessalines@lemmy.ml @nutomic@lemmy.ml

I am one of the Beehaw admins.

I, personally, have not had negative experiences with you or anyone else associated with the Lemmy software platform.

I appreciate that everyone here, in this thread, has been able to vocalize their praises and constructive criticisms.

I believe that it is very important, for the further development of the fediverse, to keep these conversations open to everyone involved.

Please, let us all reflect on the reasons that we are invested in the fediverse.

Personally, I believe that the fediverse has an enormous potential to replace all of the corporate-run social media platforms.

I am invested in Beehaw and the fediverse for the sake of the people.

I am one of the admins of Beehaw and I'm trying to get some feedback on our potential move.

Let's start out with a little Beehaw history before judgements are passed, please.

A handful of us were beta testing Tildes when we decided to have discussions on a Discord server.

We decided that our 'Northern Star' or guiding principle would culminate as 'Be Nice' with purposefully vague/flexible interpretations. Our overall goal is to provide a safe space to disenfranchised persons.

We talked for a little over a year and some of our members became impatient. Then someone stepped in to suggest a couple of platforms that we could consider getting started with.

One of those platforms was Lemmy. None of us knew, at that time, anything about ActivityPub.

During the Reddit exodus (surrounding the API outcry and blackout), our instance exploded. We were, initially, crippled by the mass amounts of users seeking refuge.

Thankfully, someone stepped in and volunteered hundreds of hours of work to stabilize our instance and refine it further.

After many hours of talks, it became clear to us that our overall goal could be achieved outside of Lemmy/ActivityPub.

Right now, we feel that Lemmy and ActivityPub have downsides that are limiting us from achieving that goal.

We've received a lot of reports about Android apps no longer working at Beehaw.org. About an hour ago Sync pushed an update that solved this issue. I use Mlem and can confirm that Mlem 1.0.1 does not load Beehaw.org.

I wholeheartedly agree

I am one of the Beehaw admins...we received a message from your team via another Beehaw admin.

There are some people that are considering working on better mod tools.

See: https://discuss.online/post/12787

Let me know if I can be of further service.

I've been beta testing your app from almost the beginning. Thank you.

I'm the sysadmin for beehaw.org and our user-base has almost tripled in 24 hours. Our site has been crashing so much over this time period.

We do have some volunteers that are trying to figure out a reasonable solution for when this happens again four weeks from now.

Do you have any recommendations?

I've gotten feedback from some moderators and the other two administrators at Beehaw.

The first is to "feature" or "pin" posts whether that is local to the community or site-wide.

The second is to approve registration applications.

That is, incredibly, helpful. Thanks so much!

Are there reliable statistics that show this?

I'm trying to get an idea rolling for a mobile app that could handle the most used platforms on the Fediverse.

For example, let's assume that Mastodon, Lemmy and Peertube turned out to be the most used platforms on the Fediverse. Would people be interested in a mobile app that could properly integrate all of these?

I JUST WANT TO CHILL AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!

Why can't the Internet be fun!?!

I remember when it was like fucking Disneyland every fucking day!

BTW, I'm one of the admins at https://beehaw.org

I want the Internet to be fun again for fuck's sake!

You can un upvote your own post.

That's probably what happened...thanks!

We've disabled downvotes at Beehaw and this issue was addressed/fixed for some time. However, as you can see, downvotes are getting through again.

I believe that I remember this being an added option with the Lemmy 0.17.2 release. However, I'm unable to find this option.

[-] suspended@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Well, that's a bug isn't it? Now that I've set it back to undetermined everything works normally again.

6

When I'm logged out I can see everything as it's supposed to be. However, when I'm logged in as one of the admins of our instance, then there are entire communities that are empty and some post comments are not visible.

10

It's not just Beehaw but several other instances are missing from the Join a server page.

Was this caused by the bot/crawler not being updated to handle the new Lemmy version?

I'm assuming that this link is only available to instance admins? What, precisely, happens when this link is clicked?

I just found the typo in that file and fixed it. Site is back up and running! Thank you for your help!

[-] suspended@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 years ago

Thanks for all the hard work!

Based on what I'm reading here I would suggest seeing either a psychologist or a psychiatrist. It's quite possible that you could discover a way to deal with your problems without using prescription drugs.

Speaking with a doctor (or several in order to get several opinions) is the safest route. Please, do NOT take the advice of the users in this thread about health/wellness. My wife is a registered nurse and I have studied health at a university.

You mentioned:

...burnout and bad thoughts.

This is an indicator that there is an underlying problem going on here that would be better addressed by professional counselors and/or doctors.

Many people have dedicated their entire lives in order to help people like you. Please, reach out to them.
