Welcome to the Cyber-Party!
What went well?
The start of this Lemmy instance, lol!
What didn’t go well?
The installation of this Lemmy instance
Is there anything you’re proud of?
I am happy that our community is so small and sweet and consists of many nice people!
Is there anything that you are happy or excited about?
There is a major (positive) change in our instances coming up, I am looking forward to it, but I am worried that everything can go wrong.
Did you discover or set up any new communities this week?
Yes, ha!
Is there something going on in your community that you are excited about?
You people!
During an extensive evaluation of your post, I was able to find that Shadowrun is also welcome here!
Taaa-daaa, https://dataterm.digital/c/cyberpunk :) If you want, I'll be happy to make you a mod there - you "unfortunately" have to make a post there first!
It's nothing wild, in the background is a CMS as a framework on which I then build the plugins. Currently I have a small break to continue to create it but I think in the fall I will start again - I also plan to make it public so that everyone can host it themselves :)
A guide sounds good, I'll put it on my to-do list! "Somehow" I have not quite figured it out yet, it is possible even without DATATERM account to still use our Lemmy instance, I'll look again how that works :D What works is to enter the URL of posts e.g. at our Mastodon or Misskey instance into the search to reply to posts.
There is a way to check if everything is running smoothly, mostly via an API directly from the software. I will soon when I find time create a status page for all the fun pages we have :)
Unfortunately, there are still a few small problems with the instance, what you describe we have also noticed.
There will be a few changes in short, I hope that the problem is eliminated. I'm not sure if the VM is too weak or the software is not good enough. By the way, we also have a !nightcitybar community here ;D
I would love to build one myself but I am too clumsy to solder :D
I completely understand your sentiment. On platforms like Reddit, where there is a visible karma system that accumulates from both posts and comments, there can be a certain pressure to constantly strive for popular or highly upvoted content. This can create a sense of competition and make individuals feel like they need to constantly deliver exceptional or witty contributions to gain recognition...
In contrast, Lemmy's approach of not displaying an overall running karma total does create a more relaxed and less pressurized environment. Without a visible count, the focus shifts more towards meaningful discussions and engaging with the community rather than constantly worrying about the number of upvotes or downvotes received :)
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt sentiments, fellow seeker of cybernetic havens!
Seems right! You a not a robot!
