I'm not sure. He might be learning the wrong lessons from the Hogwarts Legacy situation, and assuming that there are more Harry Potter fans who like Rowling than who hate her. He might be right, but it takes considerably less commitment to buy a game than to watch a season of streaming television. How many antiwoke fans are really going to watch a whole season of a Harry Potter show just to spite some terminally online Twitter users?
Keeping her involved somewhat isn't a terrible choice if you want to stay true to the source material, but it doesn't make much sense to speak so publicly about the partnership if your end-goal is to have as many viewers as possible.
That said, WBD is now profitable (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/warner-bros-discovery-streaming-profit-2023-q4-earnings-report-1235832538/) so maybe they have some breathing room to eat a loss on this project.
Those protections include setting a baseline for minimum terms and conditions with regards to AI voice replicas, along with requiring actors to authorise their voice for use in such projects and negotiate around how and where their digital double is used. The agreement also allows performers to opt out of letting their AI voice be used in the future if they decide against it later on.
In other words, rather than opposing the replacement of actors by AI as a whole, the deal looks to try and put control of any AI recreations in the hands of actors through formal licensing - wresting back some power from AI tools that harvest thousands of creators’ work without any kind of credit or compensation.
That all seems very fair to me.
I'm surprised he didn't mention the 4K UHD disc instead.
Why would anyone be outraged? She's a far left activist, I don't know why anyone would expect her NOT to be there.
Yeah they shouldn't have touched CS:GO on MacOS
Oof...you're probably right to a degree. And that will make culture war polarization even worse when it comes to what is taught in public schools. It will be a sad state of things, when the majority of teachers are mere activists.
As I understand it, the problem with teacher pay is with corruption in the school system, not the schools themselves not getting enough money. They have plenty of money, but they're still not paying their teachers well.
Well, I think this will get them both attention now. The right has been giving Bill Maher attention for awhile now and likely will continue to do so, but that's for political reasons.
The consequences will truly hit when the strike is over and they're iced out of the unions, missing out on other Hollywood opportunities. I suspect that will affect Drew far more than Bill.
The funny thing is I think Disney is on the brink of selling half of itself away to random entities
I say blame the strikes. These companies need new revenue streams.
How long does it take for something to be a cult hit?
