nginx is like, the gold standard. it’s performant as heck. the issues are likely a culmination of many small sub-optimal pieces.
I’m not sure I understand enough about the fediverse to grasp the impact of this. Can I still subscribe to these communities manually? If not, is that a technical limitation of lemmy? Because I can see removing bad actors from the ALL feed, but what would be the harm or need to moderate if personally subscribed?
The Fediverse and classical Usenet are so similar IMO. I think Usenet is just so old that nobody outside of pirates is familiar with it.
This actually seems like a really good way to share some archived files from my NAS with my brother without relying on SFTP over WireGuard.
I completely agree with this and I think it's because of the legal issues it avoids. I'm not a lawyer, but if I'm not mistaken, the entire fediverse doesn't take a hit if a single server is a bad actor. Whereas sites like Reddit and Twitter need to defend themselves based on the content users generate.
I absolutely love the new UI. It’s so responsive and modern, and for the most part, consistent.
