This decision will be a stain on our party for years to come and damage our ability to organize for Democratic wins this year, next year, and beyond.
Of course it will. This is like, the Democrats whole thing.

The Pro had a funnier take on the same basic idea:
We have a child-rapist for a president, and people are being disappeared off the street and sent to torture prisons. Why were they considering coming here in the first place?
Democratic Leadership when they have power: "We can't afford to give you the healthcare/housing/economy/peace/rights that we promised, which is well below the healthcare/housing/economy/peace/rights that you actually need, sorry. Anyway, we're off to spend all your tax money on the military, intelligence agencies, and our rich friends. Good luck out there."
Democratic Leadership afterwards: "Wait, why aren't you voting for us?"
audio - Most of the time it works, but there have been plenty of times that after an install, I have to go in and make a handfull of changes to get it working.
"you are using it wrong" developers - Lookin at you, Gnome, Mozilla and Pottering. Yes, you are donating your time, and I appreciate that, but don't be dismissive of people if they bring up valid issues. If you just don't want to fix problems, that's fine, but just be honest about that, instead of blaming the user.
sleep/hibernate - I've never depended on sleep or hibernate to work properly. I gave up on that years ago, and whenever I come back and try it again, I remember why I gave it up.
documentation - As a seasoned linux person, I love man-pages, but they are soooooo obtuse and hard to parse for newbies. I also hate it when the website has mountains of documentation, but they couldn't be bothered to put that into the man-pages.
video/wifi drivers - Yes, I know that this is mostly a problem because of the manufacturers. That doesn't mean it isn't a problem.
unsympathetic users - Just because it works for you, doesn't mean it works for other people. I can't wait for year-of-the-linux-desktop, but it just isn't there yet. As soon as you have to tell a non-tech to open a terminal, the vast majority of them are out. You and I know that 'editing /etc/somedir/somefile and running /usr/sbin/somecommand' is easy, but sooooo many of them don't know what that means, nor will they care. I hear that windows is pretty bad nowadays, but people will often stick with the devil they know.
Before you make a change, do this in a screen-session:
sleep 300 && iptables-restore old_fw_rules.bak
To further expound: In a healthy political ecosystem, Trump would not be able to get anywhere near any political office. He would have been immediately voted down as the cruel joke that he is. It's only because America is so evil and toxic that he was elected twice.
I've heard variations on this for years, but here is where I found this specific version: https://jessicadavidson.co.uk/2016/03/04/how-long-does-it-take-to-become-enlightened/
A Buddhist monk approached his teacher and asked the Zen Master, “If I meditate very diligently, how long will it take for me to become enlightened?”
The Master thought for a moment, and then replied, “Ten years.”
The student then said, “But what if I work very, very hard and really apply myself to learn fast. How long then?”
The Master replied, “Well, then it will take twenty years.”
“But if I really, really work at it. How long then?” persisted the student.
“Thirty years,” said the Master.
“But I don’t understand,” said the disappointed student. “Each time I say I will work harder, you say it will take me longer. Why do you say that?”
The Master replied, “When you have one eye on the goal, you can only have one eye on the path.”
I actually love email. While yes, this post is accurate, email is the most filterable communication system that I have. Since I have my own email-server, and I know how procmail rules work, I can tightly control who is allowed to contact me, and what folders their messages go into. It also has great crowd-sourcing of known spammers, that I can pull from to help me filter out spammy IP addresses.
Every other message system only has a "report spam" button, that is dependent on the service admins, and doesn't actually stop people from sending me annoying junk-mail.
I've known plenty of them. They sign up specifically because they want to do this job. Rember the dumb bullies from school? Imagine what happens when they grow up.
No, it's the Republicans who are to blame. The Democratic leadership is to blame for not putting up a candidate or policies that the voters wanted.
It's always amazing to me that people will blame the people who couldn't stomach to vote for the Democrats, rather than getting mad at the Democratic leadership for being so awful that people can't stomach to vote for them.
Because it's unfortunately still true. I have a video-card that I can't upgrade because it nvidia drivers keep breaking my display. I've had to swap distros because some don't work well with my audio-card, or my wifi-card. I was able to get them working eventually, but pretending that it wasn't a pain in the ass would be a lie.
This attitude of "everything works fine, and if it doesn't that means you are doing it wrong" is why people don't like trying Linux. We have to be realistic about the experience. It's massively better than it used to be, but pretending its flawless is just dishonest.
