I had about 1.5 shaves left on this tub of Haverford. Instead of blowing it all on one shave, I'm running an experiment today and tomorrow - how well does Stirling's beef tallow base stretch?
I used a little over half of the soap I normally use today. The result wasn't bad. I was really stretching on pass 3. I had a comfortable BBS result without the normal luxury.
I changed over to The Cajun Blade's tallow pre-shave this morning. I learned it goes on pretty dry (it looks like a shave stick). Tomorrow, I'll probably spritz a bit of water after I put it on.

Old Spice Sunday: Sample kill. This soap is from The Great Spice Off #13 and Adventus Calendar day 6.
I like this base despite it being vegan. At the beginning of lathering, it looks like it's going to be a weak or delicate soap. Once it gets going, it makes gobs of lather.
It was a very nice shave. 7 Doubloons has a bit of menthol in it. Using Stirling's Glacial balm right after put a blizzard on my face.

A few notes for this SOTD:
- Prep: Yesterday, I killed the cube. 8 oz. of PAA vegan slickness. I don't think I'll be getting another. It's fine as a pre-shave but it's ingredients list is longer and more complicated than a Barrister and Mann soap. The Black Bot scent was okay, but 8 oz over a hundred or so shaves was too much.
- The new shave tonic probably won't be with me long. It's a pre/post combo. Honestly, Proraso does that better.
- Soap: I bought this scent to get to a better understanding of what oud smells like. I can't put real descriptive words to it. Like petitgrain and oakmoss, it doesn't smell like anything; it smells good.
- Lather: The Bradford 2.1 base is very good. It came out not structured or very cushiony but it was very slick. Next time I'll use more soap and less water to see if I can get more cushion out of it. That being said, the Superslant doesn't need much cushion.
- Shave: While thinking about all these things and world problems, I sliced my cheek. Lesson learned for today: leave SOTD composition and solving the world's problems until after the shave. :)

I don't have the theme soap. I thought I had a Zingari Man sample, but I don't. I do have their brush cleaner soap. I considered this for a bit as in a past Atlas Shave someone used Dawn Powerwash Pumpkin Spice. Then I remembered that I'm already a loser and another airbud won't hurt. :)

Tub kill.
My soap-stretching experiment turned out well. I was a little more conservative with water today, which made more durable lather that held up through all three face passes and two passes for the back of my head.
I really like Haverford. I have a big collection of samples, an archive of uNObTaNiUm soaps, and a bunch in line to try out. Haverford is on the short list to keep in stock.
