I'm new at the fediverse and really confused. Whenever I view magazines/communities on my kbin.social account, different posts show up than when I view on an account from a lemmy instance. Is this by design? Also viewing magazines/communities on my kbin account show very old posts. How can I see newer posts?

Thank you for the explanation! Interestingly, older content is showing up for me but not newer content. Your explanation makes it seem like older content would be "delayed", but is the same true for newer content?

Anyone know why I keep getting this message when I try to access a community/magazine through kbin?

I work in Addiction Medicine and xylazine is not a new problem; the media is just now picking up on it. Certain states are not supportive of harm reduction (access to naloxone, syringe service programs, etc) which only makes xylazine in the drug supply worse.

Xylazine is not approved for use in humans. It is used as a sedative in veterinary medicine, which is why it's referred to as "tranq" on the street. The closest drug we have in humans is clonidine. We are not sure how xylazine works in humans. Xylazine was previously studied in humans to treat hypertension; however, it was not approved by the FDA due to causing severe hypotension and bradycardia. It's still extremely important to administer naloxone to suspected opioid ODs even if xylazine use is suspected even though naloxone has no affect on xylazine.

Xylazine is also cytotoxic and causes necrotic wounds and ulcerations in people who inject drugs.

I support student loan forgiveness; however, not addressing the root problem only kicks the can down the road. What is the government doing to prevent this same situation from happening again in 5-10 years?

Reddit is forcing open restricted subs by replacing their mods.

I don't think the average redditor cares. They will complain about their third-party app going away, but will use the official one and go on with their life.

Sexy pics of John Oliver is better than 90% of the stuff posted there anyways. Glad to see them sticking it to Reddit, though.

Reddit proverbially taking their ball and going home lmao

Agreed. I have an account on lemmy.world, but I enjoy the community and interaction with the posts on beehaw. One user made a post saying that the defederation hurt Beehaw more than the other instances, but Beehaw has a lot of strong, active communities that the other instances don't have.

Wow, thank you for this!

I agree. I started off creating an account on lemmy.world because I had no idea what I was doing in the fediverse (still don't lmao). All this drama/defederation between lemmy.world and beehaw.org was annoying because I liked the posts and discussions from communities in beehaw.org. Decided to give kbin a shot, which seems to be working well? The UX for lemmy and kbin are honestly gross and is taking a while to get used to.
