Well one of the original purposes of the police force was to protect the establishment and their interests and power from social unrest during the industrial revolution.

Just because we're two hundred years down the line doesn't mean that's changed. Maybe that helps to make it make sense.

This is one of the worst if not the worst fucking film I've ever seen. Compared to the books it's entirely depoliticized except for shallow jokes like the one depicted. The characters are cringey and have lost all appeal. The kangaroo is supposed to be witty and battlesome, the protagonist should be clever.

Sorry you had to sit through this shit.
