I think I wasnt thinking clearly. sticked posts it doesn't matter what the up/downvote ratio is, its still gets pushed to all. COrrect?
You people are worse than reddit
I have not seen evidence that the plurality of that instance is in favor of genocide. Im open to evidence. and ofc maybe I'm just not observant enough. But i have not noticed the majority in favor.
I LOVE BIG BROTHER ^/s^
Its this kind of bad-faith accusative argument that I hate most, from wherever it comes.
Dang and I just made this account too. Time to find a new instance... Any recommendations? How is lemmy.today?
This whole process has looked sus to me. And on top of that, I don't think voting by up/downvoting the post itself is a good way to call votes
it means a minority can pass a rule without it being even seen by the majority (not sure that matters in this case). Voting should be done in a top-level comment.
Gold. How fukken basic. Basic bitch.
The posted article is excellent and everyone should read it [techdirt always writes great stuff]. The story's primary source is [this NYT article via archive.is. Every secondary source fail to mention "collateral aliens", and I'm here to rectify that.
ICE is already arresting people just because an officer is suspicious. the NYT article is 2 things:
-
the director changing the justification of why it's ok. That being: "the person might not be here later, so we have to arrest them now" ... In reality they call this "likely to escape" (same difference).
-
The new thing is using this justification to arrest anyone who is nearby, who they call "collateral aliens", in group round-ups.
In summary: A single ICE officer can think a dude on the corner looks wrong; can arrest him because he might not be there later; then arrest you just because you're nearby. Now you're a "collateral alien", and have no due process and cannot plead your case.
And in that confusion, you can't tell who's a federal officer and who's just a dude ... oh what a perfect way for an officer to get shot.
tldr
We don't know what gas grenade it is or what's in it. But there is old data from grenades that look similar, and those old grenades are safer than normal tear gas grenades.
But we don't actually know what they are. They could be anything.
eyeroll yes. Do you think I support zionism?
