considering that the intended use case is for research, the web is going to be used either way, so it’s better to not have the distraction of a full web browser, which is exactly what “distraction free” is all about

just so everyone is aware grapheneos only support's pixels because it is specifically designed for taking advantage of the hardware security features found in google's tensor and titan chips. and thus installing it on another phone would kinda miss the point (and vastly increase the scope of the project)

google is also basically the best company when it comes to phones for custom roms, as they provide stock images, a simple bootloader unlocking process (that doesn't void your warranty as far as i can tell), and generally the aosp and software support that comes from being the phone of the developer of android.

yes and people 4 months ago were like "haha stupid ai art can't draw hands" and now that's just like not a valid argument because the tech has matured to a degree that its pretty reasonable to create something with little to no imperfections, and obviously that will happen again with video

Well yes obviously but it does serve a purpose as a maintained fork, that's why I included that. I expect a normal fork will be made soon because of this news.

what is a "normal phone" to you, apple has over 50% marketshare in both the US and UK. iphones are, by definition, "normal phones".

the days of iphones being the expensive/overpriced option are over, with 1200+ android flagships being common

I think watching apple's promotional videos will explain a lot of your concerns better.

Spotify literally changed the way people listen to music by being popular enough that the general way of listening changed from a purchase, listen forever model. To a listen to anything you want and never not have anything new, way of listening (but you don't own anything).

A song is no longer worth a purchase of a cd, or dollar at itunes. It's worth the 3 minutes of listening that it gives you when Spotify recommends it to you.

Obviously I'm biased. And also, yes, there were streaming services before Spotify, but nobody that mattered and with the influence of Spotify.
