Even if she were the shoplifter, how would that work? "Sorry mate, you shoplifted when you were 16, now you can never buy food again."?

Grew her 2019 from seed. She flowered a little late so I took her to my office, where I have a perfect nice south facing office. She produced a ton of peppers. Then I "killed" her (cut her of way down, leaving her no leaves at all) and left her. 2 weeks later she came back. So I started giving her water and nutrients. She grew back and gave (less) peppers in 2020. As I have been on and off in the office (guess we all know why) she wasn't treated as she deserved. At the end of the year, I "killed" her again. She came back again. So I gave her water. I gave her way too little nutrients (I hardly ever was at the office, she was mostly watered by a colleague), I never repotted her. I feel like a monster. She didn't produce peppers. Then suddenly in the fall of 2023 she produced 3 proud little peppers. So, I finally decided to take her back home and just repotted her in a nice, bigger pot and gave her the nutrients and fresh dirt (after 5 years...) she desperatly needed. I am somewhat exited what she will do this year.

To understand how unhinged our society is one only needs to understand how we constantly improve our technology, but don't use it to improve us as a society.

The main reason why I didn't want high end packages for our last car was, that I am a cheap bastard. The second reason is, that I think touchscreens in cars are one of the dumbest ideas imaginable.

Maybe for you youngsters. We old farts only get to grow a beard and get fat.

Racist grampa tree has a point, though. Monocultural conifer tree forests are oftentimes a bad idea. We have a lot of problems with our (artificially created) monocultural conifer forests here in German lately. Basically they are just dying of large scale, due do pests. It really is heartbreaking to see hectars of dead trees. Multiculturalism is just the better way and leads to stronger societies, ehm, forests.

Don't use a baby camera that is connected to the internet. Use one with a monitor that is connected to the camera with a local encrypted signal.

The one we had isn't available anymore, but I am sure there are more modern equivalents.

But why? It is a full Linux distro. All games compatible to the Steam deck also run on other distros. So the motivation to develop for Linux is the same and we users of other destroy profit from that the same.

The guilt that "you could have done more with your life", despite being a successful engineer with a happy family.

Embrace, extend and destroy is a known, well established, concept. Microsoft was quite open about how this is to be done.

It has already happened to established decentralised networks. See here!

Maybe it won't happen to Mastodon, maybe they have the masterminds who can counter it. But it is imo pretty clear that this is what Meta plans to do.
